EyeCare America (ECA), a public service program of the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, has helped over 1 million people since 1985 by providing information and no-cost medical eye care through a pool of over 7,000 volunteer ophthalmologists.
In tribute, ECA has been recognized by four past U.S. Presidents, countless elected officials, celebrities such as: Bill Cosby, Betty White, Harry Belefonte, Oscar De La Hoya, Tony Plana and more. In 2006 we received a Presidential Service Award and were recently featured by Paul Harvey, in Ladies Home Journal and AARP. Please encourage your constituents to call to see if they are eligible to see one of ECA's volunteer ophthalmologists. During tough economic times, older Americans on fixed incomes are often the most affected, and as daily and monthly expenses are prioritized, eye care often falls by the wayside. ECA wants to make sure that, as a senior, your eye health is not neglected by matching eligible patients with a nearby volunteer ophthalmologist who will provide you with a medical eye exam and up to one year of care at no out-of-pocket cost. Seniors without insurance receive this care at no charge. EyeCare America - Helping America's seniors.
