Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 63, Chapter 8, relative to contact lens with no prescription power (plano lens).  An ACT passed by the Tennessee General Assembly in March 2005 prohibits the sale of contact lens by any person or entity other than an Ophthalmologist (MD) or Optometrist (OD). 

It is against Tennessee regulations for any business, entity, individual, company, etc. to sell plano (cosmetic) lens to the public.  This ACT was passed in the interest of public health.

Any person, business, entity, individual, company, etc., other than those specified by the Tennessee General Assembly, selling contact lens is in violation of this ACT and should be reported to the Tennessee Department of Health (615-741-3111).
